In this group of pictures you can see the results of a little bit of rain and some wind. You can really tell it when you see the inside. I was told that it won't hurt anything at this stage. They are getting ready to start on row 15 of the logs with 1 more to go after that then they start on the roof. I'll try to find a spot with a good view of the front and take a picture from there each time but since the ground slopes down the angle will be wrong, so maybe I can climb a tree to get a better view(but don't count on that). We pick both front & back doors when we go back down this coming Thursday he 1st. and I'll take some more pictures then.

Those 2 trees on the right rear corner and next to the garage and driveway are supposed to be Mulberry trees. In the summer that will be where our special friends will park especially if they have a white car.

I'll get a picture of this view each time I'm there, it seems to be where there is the least obstructions for the best view of the back.

The builder said that he would have some steps ready for Carol the next time she came, so here they are.

Here are a few pictures of the interior after a small rain. I bet a roof would have helped.

These are the ceiling and 2nd floor beams.

Six pictures in this group. It rained for 2 days the first of the week but they still got quite a bit done. This is the front of the house and you can see at the front door a dirt ramp used to help get the log in easier. In the next picture you can see where they are starting on the 12 layer of logs. I'll be home for vacation during Thanksgiving and for a week after so I'll get to take the pictures the next 2 times. The front and back doors that we ordered should be ready to pick up and take down there while I'm home. The back door was in a week ago but they had screwed up the order and sent us the wrong one so had to order it again. After we got back home that day we had a msg on the phone that the front door was in, while we were there that noon they said it wasn't there yet. Looks like the normal screw ups are starting. So the front door is there now and we're waiting on the re-ordered back door to come in, I hope its right this time.

Windows for the 2 downstairs bedrooms. Metal protectors for the basement windows for when they fill in the dirt to the black level. Also a little piece of the garage showing.

Living room window and dining room windows.

Livingroom corner of the house.

A view of the well and one of the hydrants. Lower right corner of the picture, someone is a Cardinals fan.

A little better view of the well and one of the water hydrants. There will be at least 2 more hydrants.

22 pictures in this group. A good view of the house from the side of the hill. There is a series of pictures showing the sequence of stacking the logs and some of the drilling rig with this group.

A little more to the right with this shot.

A fairly good view of the stacked logs.

A side view. Looks like I'll have to ask about the gaps between the ends of the logs where they are butted together.

A view from the driveway.

A view of the drilling rig and the garage

Another view of the drilling rig. They had to drill mostly thru limestone. The limestone dust and dirt mixted with air pressure created the foam that looks like the expandable insulation foam.

We got water, too bad it's not oil tho. Actually that's water being forced out by air pressure which they said was part of the drilling process. It's not quite to water but will be soon. It hit water at 120ft but they will go on to 140ft and then stop.

The little pond for the water and sandstone, dust and dirt foam.

A stack of logs in the living room.

2 bedrooms and a bathroom in that area.

The dining room, kitchen & utility room area.

Where a livingroom window and a diningroom window will be.

Here are some pictures of the process of stacking a layer of logs. Getting ready here to stack the 7th row of 16 rows. Putting on 2 strips of clear sealer and glue.

Moving and stacking another log.

Getting the log in the long narrow channel or depression, in other words "gettin in the groove".

Getting the log lined up and ready for the screws.

Starting the screws in the log.

Making sure that the logs are stacked evenly and square with the floor.

Making sure the logs line up correctly in the doorway.

Screwing the logs together.

Putting the foam strip into the logs at the joint to complete the seal.

For those of you who are a little curious about how our log home will look here are a few pictures of a log home our Contractor/Builder finished right before he started on ours. The outside will look somewhat different than this ours is bigger with no carport and it will have a 10' dormer in the front, theirs is in the back. Our garage will be in the back and the back will have a shed dormer the full width of the garage. The inside pictures will give you an idea what the logs will look like and will be somewhat simular to what is shown here but with a noticable difference. This is just a teaser of what it will look like but will give you an idea the logs will look the same tho.

This is the back with a small dormer I think about 4' wide.

Livingroom looking at the door to the carport. A little bit of insite on what the work in progress looks like.

Carol took these pictures so I'm not sure if this is a bedroom or a corner of the livingroom. Carol leave a comment if you remember which this is.

7 pictures in this group. Looking from the circle drive to the front of the house, they finally started stacking the logs. Carol has been the photographer for most of these pictures and she's done a fine job. We definately wouldn't get to see much of the construction without her time and effort driving back and forth from St. Charles and Salem to do it. Thanks Carol! I'll get to take the next batch tho if I don't miss my flight. Don't forget that you can see a bigger picture by clicking on the picture then hold your mouse on the lower right corner for a second or 2 then when the icon comes up click again.
